Rochester Half Marathon - September 18, 2011

Luckily this race went a lot better than the one two weeks previous! It was a beautiful cool and sunny day which was perfect for running. My time was 2:14 which was good for me! Lori, Jen, and I had trained since June for the race. We got up early (running at 5:30am or 5:45am about five days a week) and built up our mileage. The half marathon was on my bucket list, and it's nice to cross it off. Not so sure about a full marathon though ... 13.1 miles seems far enough for me.

Finger Lakes Triathlon - September 11, 2011

This was my second triathlon. I was slower than last year, but since I didn't train for the bike or the swim at all, it was a good showing. Still under two hours, so it was good enough for me. It was a beautiful day, and Lou and the kids came down to cheer for me! My friend Renee took this picture on the bike course. It was still early in the two hours as you can see! :)

Finger Lakes Triathlon - Kids - September 10, 2011

Grace competed in her first ever "timed" kids triathlon. She did very well, coming in third overall in her age group of 11-15 girls. She was fourth out of the water after the swim, first after the bike, and placed third which was awesome! She had a lot of fun and plans to do it next year!

Grace's Citizenship Award ceremony - September 8, 2011

Grace received the Citizenship Award from the Webster Retired Educators Association in June at Moving Up Day at Plank North. The recipients from all schools were honored at the Webster School Board meeting on September 8. Their nominations were read, and the board congratulated them on their achievements. This is a picture of them at a nice reception after with cake and drinks. Congratulations Grace!

Splash Lagoon - September 4-5, 2011

Grace and Noah had been wanting to go to Splash Lagoon for quite some time. Noah had been with some friends, and we had taken Grace to Great Wolf for her 10th birthday, and Noah wanted in on the action. So I woke up on Sunday morning, called the place, booked a room and bought tickets, and we left at noon. The kids had a great time on the water slides, in the pool, and in the arcade. It was a nice getaway for our family!

Corbett's Glen - September 3, 2011

My girlfriend Lori told me about this place in Penfield. Since Lou was working, we decided to check it out. The kids were very skeptical that I knew what I was talking about. The park is a wonderful mix of trails, water, falls, and lots of fun. Grace and Noah ended up going in to the stream in their clothes and really enjoyed themselves. We stopped at Abbott's on our way home for custard for a nice end to the afternoon!

Summerfest 15K race - September 3, 2011

On this day, Lori, Jen, and I ran our first 15K at Mendon Ponds Park. It was about 90 degrees outside at 9am when the race started, and the humidity was literally at 90%. This picture is after we finished the race, arguably the ugliest any of us have ever run. None of us "had it". We decided it was a good wakeup call for the half marathon and that we needed to get our acts together. But we did it!

Cape Cod - August 6-13, 2011

The McKenzie - Germano - Schmidt - Repman families spent a week on Cape Cod in August. It was our first ever total family vacation. We stayed in a big house in Falmouth/Mashpee. I managed to run 15 miles as it was mid way through my half marathon running. We had a lot of fun at the beaches, Martha's Vineyard, and enjoying lobster rolls.
